🧢 Classic Beanie Crochet Pattern

A full construction plan, not just a motif: every round is computed by the stitch engine and verified before publishing — the finished object comes out the size the title promises.

📏 Adult 54-58cm head: crown circle Ø16cm, finished depth ≈20cm with 4cm negative ease

Finished size & materials

📏 Adult 54-58cm head: crown circle Ø16cm, finished depth ≈20cm with 4cm negative ease. Written for worsted (category 4) yarn and a 5.0-5.5mm hook at ≈0.7cm per single crochet. Gauge decides the final size — hook a small swatch first and adjust the hook, not the stitch counts. Every round below is computed by the stitch engine: if a round says it starts at 72 and ends at 66, those numbers reconcile.

Assembly & finishing

  • crown — Increase until the circle measures ≈16cm across (50cm around) — that is a 54cm head minus 4cm of negative ease. Stop 1-2 rounds earlier for a child or teen size; go to 78 sts (Ø17.5cm) for a large adult.
  • body — Work even on the crown's 72 stitches for 8 rounds (≈6cm), then try on: stop when the hat reaches just above the ear — ≈14cm total depth for a fitted beanie, more for slouch.
  • brim — Final 3 rounds in back-loop-only single crochet for a ribbed edge, or crab stitch for a firm finish.
